Blume Farm...

"You don't breed a dam, you breed a dam line".  Ingo Pape

Blume Farm Hanoverians is a small breeding farm located in central North Carolina and is owned and operated by Dr. Laurie Weiser, a small animal veterinarian.  My breeding program started with one mare, EM/ SPA Dorfblume (Davignon-Matcho-Garibaldi).  She descends from one of Germany's most prolific and strong dam lines.

EM Dorfblume's first daughter, EM Roseblume (Rotspon-Davignon-Matcho), also received her Elite Mare status from the AHS.   She then became my personal riding horse and helped me receive my USDF Bronze Medal before her untimely retirement from EPM and Lyme's Disease.  I am hoping to breed her in 2018.

I am dedicated to producing healthy, correct, and quality sport horses & sport ponies suitable for an amateur or professional rider.  Since my breeding program is very small I can offer individualized attention to each foal to optimize their training.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding my horses.

2018 News

7/2/18 For Sale In-utero:  I am thrilled to announce that EM Roseblume is in foal to Quaterhall (Quaterback-Donnerhall)!  EM Roseblume took me to my USDF Bronze Medal and was one of the highest scoring MPT mares the year she was tested.  To learn more about her click on her link on the "My Mares" link above.  This is a pairing I planned years ago after seeing Quaterhall in person and then a dozen or so offspring of his that were lovely.  Quaterhall's dam SPS Dorata K descends from a super damline.  She herself placed 4th at the Bundeschampionat, is the dam of stallion Devareaux as well as his full sister who was sold in 2009 as a three year old for 230.000 Euro at the PSI auction. His granddam St.Pr.St. Wenke k produced the advanced level dressage horses, Divertimento and Disneyworld, and the top priced stallion of the 2001 Hanoverian Licensing, Desert Moon.

The cross of Quaterhall-Rotspon has proven to be quite successful already.  Below are links to some other Quaterhall-Rotspon offpsring:

2018 has thus far been a good year!  Brilliant Blume is being shown Training Level by Becca Swann and doing quite well.  She has already qualified for Regional BLM Championships and will now focus on improving her relaxation at shows.

Late in 2017 a new mare was added to Blume Farm!  She is a big framed mare named Louisiana (Solos Landitinus-Don Schufro) bred by Oak Hill Farm in Louisiana (hence the name).  Currently she will be my riding competition horse and we are finally starting to really get in a groove!

I took a break from breeding and competing after the death of EM Dorfblume and retiring EM Roseblume.   Roseblume had contracted both EPM and Lyme's Disease and I could never get her back to competition soundness.  However, she is a fabulous trail horse and we took some camping trips to the mountains at South Moutain State Park, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville and Leatherwood.   It was a wonderful year of just enjoying nature on horseback!

I also took a great trip to The Netherlands with my friend and fellow breeder Laureen to see the KWPN Stallion Licensing and take their course.  What a wonderful trip and some lovely horses were presented!

This is a difficult post to write as I lost EM Dorfblume 24 hours after foaling a beautiful filly by Diamo Gold.  Thankfully the filly is doing well and a nurse mare was procured to raise her until she can be weaned.  The filly has been named Dorfbluemchen (barn name LB) in honor of her dam, and the name means Little Village Flower.   I am hoping that LB can carry on the breeding duties of her mother when she is older.

EM Roseblume and I obtained our USDF Bronze Medal at the Pinehurst Dressage Show with a score of 66+%.
Rhodayo Blume (Rousseau-EM Dorfblume) has had some outings at Training Level with scores into the 70+%!  Congrats to Theresa and I wish them continued success as they move up the levels.
EM Dorfblume is safely in foal to Harmony Sporthorse's new stallion Diamo Gold.  The foal is offered for sale in-utero (colt option only).    I have been in love with the stallion DiMaggio for a long time and was so excited when his son Diamo Gold was imported!  His dam line is quite amazing as well having produced many stallions for Oldenburg.  For more information visit the For Sale Page.
Attended another Hannoveraner Verband Breeders Course this summer and of course a write up has been added to my website (see link above).  It was another absolutely wonderful and educational trip.  Met some new breeders including Laureen Megan of Twin Willows Farm in Virginia...so nice to have a new friend close by.  Check out her website http://www.twinwillows.net/
I did some frozen semen purchases this year...now sitting in the tank is Floriscount, Quaterhall, Brentano II and Dancier.  So many choices!

2013 NCDCTA Dressage Championship Show EM Roseblume and I were Champion and Borealis Blume and Lauraine Rivier were Reserve Champion in the AA Second Level Division!  So proud of my homebreds.  Many thanks to our trainer Lynn Leath!!

Brilliant Blume (Buddenbrock-Davignon-Matcho) was named Top Filly at her AHS inspection at Sullivan Farm on September 13, 2013.  She will be retained as a future dressage horse and broodmare.

EM Roseblume and I showed Second Level at Pinehurst May 2013 and scored our best yet with a 68+%, winning our class!  Borealis Blume and Lauraine showed Second Level as well placing second in both their classes (just behind a professional rider as the classes were not split between AA and Open)!!  I am so proud of my homebred horses.

EM Roseblume and I were awarded NC HOY Second Level third place and Borealis Blume and Lauraine Rivier were awarded NC HOY Second Level fifth place!  Great news for my homebreds.

EM Dorfblume foaled a beautiful jet black filly by Buddenbrock on May 13,2013.  Unfortunately Dorfblume suffered a colonic torsion 24 hours later and underwent colic surgery at NC State Veterinary School.  She is currently still recovering from surgery but is being the perfect mom that she is nursing her new foal that I named Brilliant Blume (Brilly).

In an effort to continually educate my self,  this year I will be attending the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf, Germany in September.  This will be my first time to this show and am looking forward to seeing friends I made during my Hannoveraner Breed Courses and of course the amazing young horses!  As usual I will post pictures....

I had the great honor of being awarded the Dressage Foundation's Elysium Farm Fund Grant.  This allowed me to attend the Hannoveraner Verband Breed Course June 2012.

In June 2012 I attended the summer session of the Hannnoveraner Verband Breed Course.  This session focused more on the mares with us attending many, many mare shows around the Verden area.  It was an amazing and educational trip and I encourage anyone to attend!  Please see the link to see a write-up and pictures from this trip!

EM Roseblume and my sport pony Borealis Blume have officially started showing at Second Level this year.  We have now qualified both horses for Region 1 Championships at First Level and Second Level. UPDATE:  August 11th show in Pinehurst BB won his 2-3 class with a 65+%, just inching past Rosie who placed second also with a 65+%!  So proud of my two homebreds.  EM Roseblume is also qualified for American Hanoverian AA Second Level Horse of the Year 2012!  Here's hoping we place well.

Rhodayo Blume has been sold to Theresa Horne, an FEI level AA rider right here in NC!  I can't express how excited I am to see these two mature together and will be the most proud breeder when I see them enter the show ring for the first time.  I could not have dreamt a better home for "Rado".

The Dressage Foundation Awards Grant from
Elysium Farm Fund for U.S. Breeder Excellence

June 6, 2012 - The Dressage Foundation is pleased to announce that the inaugural recipient of its Elysium Farm Fund for U.S. Breeder Excellence grant is Laurie Weiser, DVM, owner of Blume Farm Hanoverians (NC).

The Elysium Farm Fund for U.S. Breeder Excellence, established at The Dressage Foundation in 2011 by Abbey Henderson, provides financial assistance to breeders to pursue educational opportunities related to breeding that will advance their careers, promote sound breeding practices and further enhance the quality of U.S.-bred dressage horses.

Laurie was awarded $2,860 to attend the Hannoveraner Verband Breeder's Course in Verden, Germany.  Her goal in attending the course is to further her knowledge and education to improve upon her small breeding program.  "I desire to one day be able to 'think' like successful breeders such as Axel Wendeler or Harli Seifert...to think in generations, to have a solid understanding of the history of blood lines and to critically assess a mare and stallion pairing.  The educational courses I have attended, and additional courses in the future, are geared towards developing and improving these skills," said Laurie.

Blume Farm Hanoverians, located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, began in 2000 when Laurie purchased her foundation mare, St.Pr.A/Elite Mare Dorfblume.  Laurie's long-term goal with her program is to consistently produce dressage horses that have the bloodlines, gaits, and conformation suitable for competitive adult amateur riders.

Applications will again be received in 2013, with a due date of May 1st.  Further information about the Elysium Farm Fund for U.S. Breeder Excellence can be found here, or call (402) 434-8585.
